Robert Downey Jr has been named the year's top entertainer by Entertainment Weekly.

Following his career turnaround with cinematic blockbusters Iron Man and Tropic Thunder, the once-troubled 43-year-old beat Tina Fey, who came in second place, the cast and crew of The Dark Knight, and the Sex And The City girls to become the magazine's greatest superhero of 2008.

"I haven't fully digested what's happened to me before, during and after Iron Man," he admits.

"Tropic Thunder seems like it happened 25 minutes ago. Time is not entirely linear: it's all so associative. But I do know that I don't want to waste any more time. That's why I'm putting my nose to the grindstone. That's why I'm cranking them out."

The actor was given the honour for pulling off one of the greatest showbiz comebacks of the decade.

"After doing just about everything humanly possible to destroy a once-promising career - including spending the better part of a decade in courtrooms and even jail cells - he's finally fulfilling his potential," says the magazine's Benjamin Svetkey.

And Robert's on-screen success looks set to continue with his upcoming works, including The Soloist by Atonement director Joe Wright, Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes and the Iron Man sequel.

With Iron Man II set to release on May 7, 2010 Downey is about to put back on the red and gold suit for the second time. He seems excited about it , save for one thing...""It's not always easy to pee when you're in that suit. In fact, my visiting the bathroom was probably the greatest stunt!" said Downey to DVD/Blu Ray Review Magazine. Here's hoping he'll have better luck the 2nd time around.

News coming out of entertainment outlets have confirmed that the role of James 'Rhodey' Rhodes previously played by Terrance Howard in the first Iron Man film, will no be reprised, at least not by him. The new Rhodes will be played by actor Don Chedle perhaps best known to audiences for the Ocean's Eleven trilogy. "I had nothing to do with that decision,"" said RDJ to MTV News. He went on to say "I love Terrence very, very much. That's all I'll say because I haven't talked to him yet," he also added "I've always admired Don," not taking either side and remaining firmly in the gray as far as his opinion of the midstream switch.

Robert Downey Jr. has now expressed interest in directing his Tropic Thunder co-star Ben Stiller. "There is a story about some famous conjoined twins - I don't remember their names but thats irrelevant anyway - and I'm going to direct Ben in that film. Ben will play both twins. It's going to be kind of like like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, except with two buttons," says Downey. He also expressed particular interest in directing Stiller towards an Oscar by working together on a dramatic project. Heaven knows how serious he is but here's hoping they can work together again. While on the set of Sherlock Holmes Robert's latest film project being helmed by film director Guy Riche a little problem arose, or rather burnt. While puffing on the pipe being used by the character, Robert sparked an ash which set fire to his pants, or more specifically the crotch area of his pants. While the pants smoldered RDJ was heard yelling "Oh God, I'm on fire!"while he slapped furiously at the flaming pants. Quick thinking co-star Jude Law put out the flames with water from a nearby vase, quickly putting a damper on the whole affair. Thank goodness for Jude, keeping our "Iron Man" from melting down.
